A Relaxing Retreat to Chiang Rai

Our time in Chiang Rai was a true period of rest and renewal. We slowed our pace and savored days filled with flavorful Northern Thai food, smaller local markets, and serene tea plantations. Though Chiang Rai is smaller and less visited than Chiang Mai, it shines as a hidden gem rich in art, culture, and breathtaking scenery.

One of the most memorable stops was the Baan Dam Museum (Black House), an extraordinary collection of dark, thought-provoking art exploring life and death. In striking contrast, we also visited Wat Rong Khun (the White Temple) and Wat Rong Suea Ten (the Blue Temple)—both architectural masterpieces renowned for their vivid colors and intricate designs.

We made our way to the Golden Triangle, where Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar meet—a fascinating intersection of geography and history.

The food, as always, was exceptional! We indulged in the region’s famous Khao Soi and enjoyed a traditional hot pot cooked in a clay pot over glowing coals—comforting and delicious.

Our trip concluded with tranquil strolls through the Choui Fong Tea Plantation and Singha Park, where we treated ourselves to decadent tea desserts and refreshing tea drinks. It was the perfect ending to a peaceful and inspiring getaway.
