Arrive in the afternoon, check into your cozy cabin or set up camp under the trees.
Pro tip: bring along a solar-powered fan, fire starters, and marshmallow roasting sticks .
The fan will keep you comfortable during warm afternoons, and the other two will set you up for the perfect campfire evening.
Once settled in, take a hand-in-hand stroll around the lake to soak in the scenery. As night falls, light the fire, cook a simple dinner together, and enjoy gooey s’mores by the firelight.

Day 2
Start the morning with a special campfire breakfast: pie-iron peanut butter and jelly French toast. Pair it with fresh coffee and enjoy it while watching the sun rise through the trees.
After breakfast, hit one of the hiking trails for some adventure and stunning views. Return for a light lunch, then spend the afternoon swimming in the lake or paddling together in a rented kayak, canoe, or paddleboat. Don’t forget the towels!
In the evening, cook dinner over the fire—try foil-wrapped campfire baked potatoes—and relax under the stars.

Day 3
Ease into your last morning with a simple but romantic breakfast—oatmeal topped with fresh fruit or overnight oats you prepped ahead of time. Then dedicate the morning to the lake: fishing, boating, or just floating together in the quiet water.

- A Weekend in Chicago: Culture, Food & Skyline Views

Chicago — the Windy City, Chi-Town, the Second City, and the City of Big Shoulders — is a city full of life. With its vast history, diverse people, and stunning architecture, it welcomes nearly 50 million visitors every year. From towering skyscrapers to world-class dining and vibrant neighborhoods, Chicago offers something for everyone. On our latest Sagitta Aurea Travel adventure, we set out to explore just a taste of what this city has to offer.
At Sagitta Aurea, we love sharing the voices of our travelers. Here’s a first-hand account from one of our clients exploring Chicago.
Day 1: Culture & Architecture
After a morning exploring Chicago’s suburbs, we headed downtown and immersed ourselves in one of the city’s many cultural celebrations: the Taste of Greektown Festival. Local vendors lined the streets, music filled the air, and of course, we couldn’t resist a warm, flavorful gyro piled high with tender meat and tangy tzatziki.
From there, we wandered through the West Loop, known for its trendy restaurants and industrial charm, before ending the evening on the water. A Chicago River architectural cruise took us past gleaming glass towers and historic buildings while our guide shared the fascinating stories behind the skyline. As the sun set over the river, we wrapped up the night with authentic Italian food that left us dreaming of the next meal.
💡 Travel Tip: The architectural river cruises are one of Chicago’s most popular attractions. Book tickets in advance, especially in summer, to secure the best times.

Day 2: Shopping, Sweets & Nostalgia
The next morning began with a brisk jog along the Riverwalk, followed by a ride 1,353 feet up to the Skydeck at Willis (Sears) Tower. The panoramic views stretched for miles, offering a breathtaking perspective of Chicago’s famous skyline.
No trip is complete without a little indulgence, so we grabbed some melt-in-your-mouth Do-Rite Donuts before heading to the Magnificent Mile for a shopping spree. For lunch, we enjoyed authentic Dim Sum at MingHin Cuisine, with baskets of dumplings and savory buns that hit the spot.
The afternoon took us to the five-story Starbucks Reserve Roastery, an immersive experience in coffee-making with unique drinks you won’t find anywhere else. Then, for a touch of nostalgia, we stopped by the American Girl Doll Shop — a place filled with childhood memories and a smile around every corner. We closed out the evening with a calming tea at Te’Amo, reflecting on a day packed with discoveries.💡 Travel Tip: The Starbucks Reserve Roastery is busiest in the afternoons. For shorter lines and a more relaxed visit, aim for the morning.

A City That Has It All
From cultural festivals and world-class architecture to culinary delights and hidden gems like the International McDonald’s and Levain Bakery, Chicago delivered an unforgettable weekend. It’s a city that blends history and modern charm, where every neighborhood has a story and every meal feels like an experience.
For Sagitta Aurea Travel clients, Chicago truly lived up to its reputation as a city of big shoulders — strong, welcoming, and full of adventure. Until next time, Windy City!
